It reached a high of thirty-three. [Nov. 26th, 2009|12:57 am]

Today while I was at Muji, I was deciding to either get :
A white acrylic snowman / christmas tree / reindeer
or
An origami set with a cute animal instruction manual + tons of colorful paper.

Notice that the clouds, don't really look like clouds..

Made a few animals and got stuck at the Giraffe...

Don't you just love the colour combination? I named this paper crane, Tiffany.

Excuse my french! [Nov. 23rd, 2009|12:28 am]

(Above : half-eaten salted caramel macaron from Pierre Herme, fucking orgasmic.)

So I realised that I forgot all about Paris.
Not doing a solely dedicated update (or posting photos) of the city would be doing it an injustice.
This one's for Pierre Herme, you will never read this but it's for you anyway.
And for Lace who's going there in december.

My summer fling with Paris.. )

You made me ink [Nov. 12th, 2009|12:19 am]

Cooked Squid Ink pasta for dinner yesterday.
Love how the basil and chilli contrasts with the black.
Love how my teeth stains after slurping up the delicious pasta noodle.

Mm, gonna try cooking Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon sometime this weekend.
Have been wanting to try it out ever since I watched Amy Adams cook in on Julia & Julia.
Wish me luck!

Best escargot stuffed mushrooms everrrr.

Weekend was crazily fantastic.
Started off with friday night at House for the beauty emporium bash (stag party) with R, Ning and Charm, had bestest tapas at HV, went to Mustafa spontaneously at 1am. Saturday was Keagan's 2nd and the night flea at the Art Museum. Today we woke up early, met Nicky, Mel and Van and headed to the Science Centre for Bodyworlds which was really enlightening and totally worth the entrance fee. Wanted to head down for the Zouk flea after but was too hammered. Getting the flu and headache. Cannot fall sick.. will not fall sick!!

A sudden craving... [Nov. 4th, 2009|11:42 pm]

...for a piping hot bowl of ramen

On a random note, one of the passages I liked from After Dark;

You know what I think?" she says. "That people's memories are maybe the fuel they burn to stay alive. Whether those memories have any actual importance or not, it doesn't matter as far as the maintenance of life is concerned. They're all just fuel. Advertising fillers in the newspaper, philosophy books, dirty pictures in a magazine, a bundle of ten-thousand-yen bills: when you feed 'em to the fire, they're all just paper. The fire isn't thinking 'Oh, this is Kant,' or 'Oh, this is the Yomiuri evening edition,' or 'Nice tits,' while it burns. To the fire, they're nothing but scraps of paper. It's the exact same thing. Important memories, not-so-important memories, totally useless memories: there's no distinction--they're all just fuel."

Honey Bee [Nov. 1st, 2009|11:21 pm]

You know that christmas is around the corner when Starbucks releases their seasonal menu. Peppermint Mocha, you will be my downfall. Town's been decorated (albeit pathetically, as if they only had a $100 budget) with cheap hanging balls, styrofoam elf-ish sculptures and fairy lights. And soon, they'll be playing jingle tunes all over and the little happy button in me will start buzzing excitedly for the holiday season.
I'm reallllyyyy looking forward to December!

Tweet-twit [Oct. 28th, 2009|12:36 am]
It would be an understatement to say that I'm addicted to my BB. Solely dependent would be the right word to use. I would never know what to do without it. It's funny, R and I were always saying that after using one for so long, we wonder how people can live without it. I mean, I can't live without it. And seriously, I'm hardly exaggerating. BB users can vouch for that. So three pimped Bolds and one Javelin sat by the pool on a tuesday evening. Over tiny screws, silicon covers and fun chat, we created a new group on the latest bbm5. Well, I created a new group and invited R, C & T, who in turn, invited other people. And the group is named "BB Fanatics", go figure.

Anyway, I do realise that I've been neglecting my LJ alot. I think I've been too busy being happy. Lame excuse, I know. But I guess I have more or less been mildly preoccupied with everything that's going on. School, Epitome, meeting up with friends, etc etc etc. Hardly online anymore, less update the LJ. Oh and in March this year, self joined Twitter, posted 1 tweet - "Is exploring twitter", before disappearing for months then finally, now, succumbing to peer/web pressure have hopped back on the Twitter bandwagon. So add me @jolenekcw.

Such a random post.
Oh well, bed & Orhan Pamuk beckons. Another story, for another time.
Will update when I have photos.

On Club St. [Oct. 22nd, 2009|01:37 am]

My favourite bookstore. Kinokuniya or Borders can be 10 times bigger with higher shelves and a way
larger selection of books but nothing can beat Books Actually, Singapore's very own version of "Shakespear & Co"

There's a light that never goes out. [Oct. 13th, 2009|11:20 pm]

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

This season's pick [Oct. 10th, 2009|02:29 am]

Reasons why I loved (500) days of summer :

It is not a predictable-I-totally-know-how-it's-gonna-end, kinda love story. It was nice seeing another film staring Joseph Gordon-levitt. (The last time I saw him on screen he was staring as a troubled homo in Mysterious Skin, I was 16 and I watched it with Val at 2am in the morning, gave me the creeps.) Zoey Deschanel looked so good in almost everything she wore. Most importantly, the show was reality slapping kinda honest. Like shit like that does happen in real life. You meet someone that doesn't believe in love, you step into a supposed relationship with him/her, shit happens, the person leaves you and the next thing you know months later you find out that they are off happily married or together with someone else. (I'm sorry if you've not watched the show and I made the spoiler. There was a research poll stating that there are actually people who prefer knowing what's gonna happen at the end. So lets just hope you're one of them and if not, too bad. Still, go catch it!)

Well on another note, I've been having a kind of bloggers block since weeks ago. Been about two or three times since I went on Post An Entry. Having typed a few lines, spacing out, then closing the window cause' I just have nothing significant to blog about. You know how it's just like when you feel you're done somewhere and it's time for a change or something new. Maybe this time's now. Maybe it's time to move on from secretsatsixth to something else. Or maybe I'll miraculously get my blogomojo back and start updating this space more often..
