Farewell castle-land
Jul. 1st, 2009 | 08:14 am

So in an attempt to really tire myself out (just because I'm hardly fond of long flights and I prefer to spend 3/4 of the time sleeping so that passes faster), I shall blog a finale update since it's my last night in Scotland. Edinburgh has been wonderful. Lesser lochs, not that many castles but definitely alot of cobblestone roads. I haven't exactly been all touristy since I came here but it's another reason to come back anyway. Mmm, house parties a plenty, generally, parties a plenty. Tea / deep talk sessions at wolsley terrace I will definitely miss and also,
waking up to the crazily long days and cool cool weather. I am NOT looking forward to going back to good ol' hot and humid singapore but definitely can't wait to see me pixie, family and friends. Fingers crossed hoping that I won't get quarantined when I return but we'll just see how that goes. Tons of photos to update, sort out and post. Have also gathered alot of inspiration over the past few weeks to start up on a new photography project. Can't wait for that as well... So this is closure to a good three week mini europe getaway. London you've been good but definitely not as sweet as charming Provence or enchanting Paris. Edinburgh, you were hell awesome and I'm defnitely coming back for more. So for now, hello home, I'm coming back!

Sixteen and seven to go.

It's been a crazily hectic/fun/tiring/enjoyable two weeks, so much so I hardly even had time to sit down and breathe properly. We covered London, Provence and Paris in about 12 days. The recent weekend saw us taking a long ride up to Alton Towers with only three hours of rest before hitting straight for the rollercoasters and other similar 40 minute-wait rides. It's been so exhausting, but enjoyable nonetheless. The first night in Paris was bad, homesickness at it's maximum. So much so I just closed my eyes and wished that I'd wake up back home, in my bed. But after touring the gorgeous city, visiting it's famous sites and of course, sweetness from the famous patissieries, I found myself falling in love with it. One of the most memorable moments was when we were sitting on the grass at the park just below the Eiffel tower savouring macarons from Pierre Herme. On a totally un-biased note because my dear cousin was there to judge as well, we tasted both, from Laduree and PH respectively and PH, won hands down by 3 ups on a 1-10 scale rating. I regret not visiting the other shop located at Bonaparte but oh well I guess there's always next time. I'm now currently in the Edin of burgh, where cobblestone roads and Harry-Potter-esque buildings line the streets, where the sun rises at 4am and sets at 10:30pm, where the sheeps graze freely and where "Look-out, Swans-Crossing" signs exist. I'm happy to be here. Looking forward to hill climbing and castle exploring. The land of exceptionally wicked fudge, haggis, bag pipes and unpredictable weather. I'm already getting used to you. A week till I get back to good ol' sunny humid Singas. Yay.
Ps : For the longest time.

Socks and a latte
Jun. 9th, 2009 | 11:23 pm
We landed at 5.45am today and took the sub from the airport all the way to Covent Garden, left our stuff in the apartment and began our day with a fix at this coffee place by the corner block before walking in the slight drizzle through damp, empty streets. It's colder than I expected, 11 degrees out. We walked from CG all the way to Piccadilly Circus and down to Oxford street, spent almost an hour in H&M before pulling ourselves out to the other shops and le amazing huge Topshop that housed four storeys of clothes/shoes/accessory esctacy (which honestly was abit too overwhelming for me. Can't say the same for Faz though.) and came out with only mandatory leggings and stockings. Go self-restraint! We then took the long way back through Chinatown and had lunch with Jasmine at Fuel, this alfresco cafe at Covent Garden, omg mushroom tagliatelle, so freaking yum. After that we watched the street buskers, walked through the market and bought some fruits back along the way. Strawberries for 1 pound per punnet, how cheap is that ?! So anyway we're back at the apartment to freshen up before heading out to dinner and Avenue Q later at 8pm..
Tomorrow we're gonna visit the Buckingham palace, the big ben, go on the london eye and do touristy stuff before catching Wicked at Victoria theatre at night. Yayy, can't wait! Took tons of pictures today too but the sun wasn't being kind so I only got several good ones out of so many shots. Pray for better weather tomorrow! I hope you guys are all doing well. I know it's too soon to say but I already kinda miss Sg's weather, just a little bit. I'm freezing my toes off here.

On the 5th, I got surprise one, then two and three. My best girls went sneaky sneaky on me and surprised me at my place in the middle of the night with strawberry struddel, balloons and crazy spray cans. On the 6th was my birthday madhatters trunch (tea + lunch) at House and then dinner at night with the folks and the extended family. All in all, I had a wonderful 21st birthday. And for now, cause I'm still not completely done packing,
( Just several from the Madhatters Trunch Party!! )
Flying off to london tonight, armed with my cf cards, polaroids and 35mm film. Hellooooo Europe!!!

Rollercoaster in May
May. 31st, 2009 | 12:36 am
So this week has been nothing less of major ups and downs. The flea last sunday was hands down, the worst one I've ever participated in. So dinner on monday with Ric, the best squid ink pasta ever. Followed by a night that supposedly ended early that ended late because of 12am 3-nydc-mudpie + firework candle surprise. Also gave two major parties a skip this week, Hacienda's 3rd anniversary and the FIAT barbie party at Prive. Exams are finally over. Tragic with the fam, Uncle Francis' departure. Doreen will be back on monday, it's comforting to know that there'll always be us three. Expecting a crazy week ahead with tons of meet ups, errands to run and stuff to do before the birthday weekend and my flight on monday. This space will be filled properly, soon enough.
PS : Another flea market at 8Q tmr from 11am-6pm.
Be there, it'll be a good one I promise.
And to you : My april and may, the best, my happiest, in the longest time.

E's Two One

Tuesday was a bunch of fun. Full shift at Epitome, Ning came over, we caught up over lunch and had home-cooked aglio olio and $5.80 al funghi pizza from the italian restaurant below. Introduced little Pixie to her, collar catch, running around under the table and playing with the green rugs. Fraw-lick just cause' we had the craving. Ric came over in the evening with grub and awfully-good-chocolate. Spontaneous photoshoot with Amy&Mo (Rufus Green), before closing and going down to Elfie's place for her surprizeee 21st shingdig with the gang. It's been quite awhile. :)
( and more photos... )

18 days and more.
May. 18th, 2009 | 12:48 pm
So it's been a terribly long while since I've posted a proper entry. The exams are almost over, I've one last paper next friday. Then it'll be party all the way, 21st birthday on the 6th and QT with the loved ones till I leave for London on the 8th. Speaking of which, there's still so much to do in preparation for the trip. Brushing up of french didn't exactly happen although that little handbook is just beside my bedpost. At least there's something to do during the 13 hour flight. Also, the need to gather more "touristy" information about little french towns, Provence and places to explore in Edinburgh, stock up on camera stuff, memory cards, film, lens... etc.
Okay, so the itinerary's fixed. 9th - 13th in London, 13th-16th Provence (we're gonna visit Aron at Villa Augusta), 16th-19th in Paris, 20th-21st we're taking a road trip to Alton Towers themepark at Staffordshire, 22nd - 2nd of July in Edinburgh. Exciting, exhilarating, everything I've always been looking forward to. But right now, I'm kinda feeling ambivalent towards the whole trip. I know I'm gonna miss so much back home. Anyway, if any of you have been to these places and know of any definitely must go to sights, please inform me! Thanks in advance!
